When overboard, the person in need pulls a loop out of the sides of the bag, pulls the arms through the loop to be secured and can be pulled and lifted with the help of the loop around the upper body.
For the rescuer, the double straps act as handles to pull and lift the person in need.

To get over a line to a boat in distress, the lifeline is thrown, after which a strong rope is tied in the loop on the lifeline, which is then pulled back.
